DF Dickins received a grant award from the Prince William Sound Recovery Institute (OSRI) in March 2025 to review the findings of groundbreaking historical research into oil behavior in ice and relate that work to present-day risks of oil spills in ice around the globe. The completed paper was published Aug 4, 2026 in “Arctic”, North America’s premier peer-reviewed journal of Northern Research. The paper contains links where readers can find the original reports for several key research projects conducted in the Beaufort Sea in the 1970’s and off the Canadian East Coast in 1986 as well as summaries of other oil in ice field studies in Alaska, and Norway.
